/ Projects
Represented a major large-diameter pipe manufacturer in a dispute against a European high-strength steel producer in ICC arbitration for over €130 million. The case was won and the award enforced. Within the case, interim measures were obtained in the Russian Federation, prohibiting the issuing bank and the executing bank from performing under an irrevocable letter of credit.
Advised and represented a major state enterprise during consultations with a government delegation of an EU country in connection with the illegal expropriation of assets within the EU under a bilateral international treaty on mutual protection of investments.
Represented the majority shareholder of the largest internet provider in Kazakhstan in two arbitrations against the Veon group concerning corporate disputes. Successfully secured dismissal of the proceedings due to the arbitral tribunal's lack of jurisdiction. The client retained control over the company.
Advised a leading Russian mineral fertilizer producer on transferring a dispute from ICC to Russian jurisdiction with the possibility of bringing claims against a bank guarantor and substantiating the joint and several liability of the bank guarantor with a Russian bank, both belonging to the same banking group.
Advised the largest Russian metallurgical company on conducting an arbitration at the ICAC at the RF CCI arising from a supply contract for electrode holders with a Swiss supplier, including developing case tactics and strategy, and preparing all key documents for the dispute.
Advised a major Austrian bank on a corporate conflict related to the provision of mezzanine loans. Within the project, we managed two arbitrations in the LCIA (London) for approximately €70 million, obtained interim measures in the BVI, and handled parallel disputes in Russia. Conducted comprehensive legal due diligence on the transaction across 8 jurisdictions.
Advised and represented a Japanese developer of medical DNA equipment in a dispute with a Russian company concerning non-performance of obligations under a joint activity agreement. We conducted negotiations, resulting in a settlement agreement that avoided lengthy arbitration proceedings in Singapore and minimized the risks of challenging this agreement within the Russian company's bankruptcy proceedings, considering the applicable law of the State of New York.
Advised a German grain exporter on a claim for damages (ship freight, demurrage) against a Russian company due to improper performance of a grain supply contract, including preparing a pre-trial claim and developing tactics and strategy for further recovery of damages in a GAFTA arbitration.
